The Two of Us

We met at work in late 2024 and somehow bonded over the fact that we were both eating turkey and rice for lunch. Not exactly a love story moment, but it worked. He asked me out by writing his number on a sticky note, which I still have saved in a scrapbook in our room. Our first date was at a revolving sushi place with bottled yogurt that made us laugh more than anything. What was supposed to be a quick dinner turned into six hours of talking. We both kind of knew right away, but it really clicked for us on our first road trip to Nashville the very next week. That trip set the tone for everything. Since then, we’ve been inseparable. We’ve built a life that feels completely ours. We’ve traveled in and out of the country, made a home together in our downtown Decatur apartment, and enjoyed Oliver the cat and Lucy the dog as our little family. Our days are usually filled with the simple things we love most. Spontaneous road trips, going to the gym together, thrifting for things we don’t need, Sundays spent cleaning and somehow redoing the living room again, long walks with Lucy, and car rides where we talk about everything. Somewhere along the way, we grew up together and found who we are in each other. From the very beginning, we both knew this was forever.
